It's a gray day here in Tigard. No shadows.

Skullmen
We don't get much snow around here but that doesn't mean I've forgotten what fun it can be to build a snowman. Here are some snowmen inspired by Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas that I drew for an ATC exchange.

Skating with pencils
This sketch is done with color pencils. I couldn't find a flesh color so combined pink and brown. Too red. I have trouble drawing hair and since I don't have much of it anyway I gave myself some rolls and spikes.

Drawing scissors
I'm in the process of designing a holiday greeting card. The idea of combining scissors with skating is the direction this seems to be going. So far all I have is a light sketch. It is very small. I think I should work larger and then shrink it down for actual printing.

Beauty book
Decided to make an altered book along the theme of beauty. Had no idea how difficult this subject would be for me. The book I chose was printed in 1924, entitled The Road to Beauty. Let me tell you, indeed it is a long hard road, my sides ached from all the laughing I did while reading it.
In a chapter named "reducing the bust, the quest of the boyish form" I decided to tweak with roller derby, one of my favorite new themes. Note the color photo of me and my daughter in derby gear, crouched down in aggressive stance (she's the skinny one). It was fun posing for that out in the street in front of my house way back in January.

Zombie dolls
Inspiration to make these paper dolls came from an event called the zombie prom. I didn't attend the zombie prom but my daughter had wanted to, so I made these as a gift to her.
The costumes attach with tabs but the dolls adhere to the paper book with magnets. The boy has a corsage of brains for the girl.
